Phil Vickery speaking at an event

I grew up on a dairy farm and left school at 16 to work as a herdsman. Rugby took me from Bude to Gloucester, Wasps, England and the Lions. I am back on a farm now, near Bath, and what I care about has not changed.

Doing the work properly. Telling the truth. Helping people get a fair shot.

About

I was born in Barnstaple to Cornish parents and grew up on the family dairy farm. I started playing at Bude, then Redruth, and joined Gloucester in 1995.

I played 145 games for Gloucester and 54 for Wasps, won 73 caps for England between 1998 and 2010, went to 3 World Cups, won the one in 2003 and captained England at the one in 2007. I toured with the Lions in 2001 and 2009.

In 2003 I started Raging Bull, a rugby clothing brand named after the nickname I picked up as a young prop. In 2011 I won Celebrity MasterChef, and I have loved cooking ever since. I was made a Deputy Lieutenant of Gloucestershire in 2015.

These days my life is about the things I have always cared about: looking after myself, good food and the land it comes from, and backing people who have not had the breaks. I am at my best with people, and I enjoy being asked to help.
